Lost Phone — What to Do Immediately and How to Find It

Lost your phone — every minute counts

A modern smartphone isn't just a communication device — it contains your photos, banking apps, passwords, and private messages. That's why speed of reaction is key.

1. Try calling or texting it

The simplest step: call your number from another phone. If the phone is nearby or an honest person found it, they can contact you. Also send an SMS with a number they can call.

2. Locate via Google or Apple account

This is the most important step:

  • Android: Open android.com/find on a computer, log in with your Google account, and you'll see the phone's exact location on a map. You can play a sound, lock it, or remotely erase data.
  • iPhone: Open iCloud.com/find or the Find My app on another Apple device. Options are the same: sound, Lost Mode, or erasure.

We recommend activating Lost Mode immediately — the phone locks, displays your contact message, and continues logging location.

3. Post an ad on Nadjime.ba

Describe the phone (model, color, case) and the location where you lost it. Your ad is automatically shared on Facebook and Instagram, significantly increasing the chances that whoever found it will see it.

4. Contact police and report the loss

Report the loss (or theft) at the nearest police station. Bring:

  • Phone's IMEI number (found on the box, receipt, or by dialing *#06# on any phone)
  • Model and serial number
  • Proof of purchase if you have it

With the report, you can ask your mobile operator to block the IMEI, making the device unusable even with another SIM card.

5. Contact your mobile operator

Call BH Telecom, m:tel, or HT Eronet and request:

  • SIM card suspension — prevents unauthorized calls and data usage
  • IMEI blocking — makes the phone unusable

6. Secure your accounts

Immediately from another device:

  • Change passwords for Gmail/Apple ID
  • Log out of banking app remotely (from bank settings)
  • Deactivate WhatsApp on the old device (Settings > Devices > Log out)

Prevention for the future

  • Always have Find My Device / Find My iPhone activated
  • Use a lock screen with PIN or biometrics
  • Write down your IMEI number in a safe place
  • Consider phone insurance
